This year three children’s ice hockey teams from Europe took part in the ‘Tournoi Du Triangle De L’Amitie’ which translates in English as the ‘Tournament of the Triangle of Friendship’. Here at Monitor we were delighted to play our part in this years’ tournament not by donning our skates but by designing the official tournament logo.
When the brief came in for this quirky project our Designer Alex had a glint in her eye and we immediately knew this was one for her. With the logo needing to incorporate the three flags of the contributing countries as well as some hockey sticks, it’s safe to say it wasn’t an easy task ahead…
Over to Alex… “I started thinking about the geographical locations of the participating countries and how a triangle can be drawn between each, after a few concepts and rough sketches I settled on the design of three hockey sticks representing each country. I wanted the three sticks to not only represent the triangle competition, but also the camaraderie of the sport – with each stick supporting the other. This highlights the fact that the tournament isn’t just about competing, but is also about building friendships, bonds and skills with other players from different countries.”
Whilst some may not realise the thought and understanding that goes into branding, here at Monitor we always ensure we carry out thorough research before working up our concepts. With the client proclaiming that they loved the finished logo we’re confident our process worked well.
