Setting up wienerberger and Renatus for retrofit success

As the UK government moves ahead with legislation to improve the energy efficiency of all social housing, wienerberger and its pioneering Renatus service turned to Monitor Creative for expert help on spreading the word.

From idea to storyboarding

After working with Monitor’s animation team on a previous campaign, wienerberger knew the power of a great collaboration. It also knew the effect good animation can have in shifting perceptions and awareness.

With social housing needing to achieve EPC C certificate ratings by 2030, there was an urgent need to spread the word about wienerberger’s Renatus retrofit and installation process. wienerberger tasked our creative talent to achieve several key goals through a short animation aimed at senior figures in the social housing industry.

Those goals included positioning wienerberger as a trusted provider with knowledge of the UK housing stock; demonstrating Renatus’s value proposition in a succinct, memorable way; and outlining both the importance of retrofits and the added value wienerberger provides as standard.

Executing the brief

After positive early conversations, our expert team thoroughly interrogated the brief to ensure the best possible outcome. Our work was staggered into three distinct phases.

First, we executed our research and planning stage. This saw us feedback with new insights on our early client conversations, then carefully working with the client to develop the full creative brief and begin initial scene planning.

And because good animation is not just about the visuals, we also scoured a range of sources to ensure we had the best possible soundtrack to portray wienerberger’s professionalism and quickly build trust.

Next, we developed a full storyboard that outlined key messages for each scene. Then we moved into full production. Illustrations, animations, voiceovers, soundtracks, and full rendering and exporting were all achieved with both speed and precision.

In just eight weeks, senior marketing figures at wienerberger went from tentative idea to a fully launched animation that delivered an immediate impact on the profile and awareness of the company’s Renatus service.

Social housing across the UK now looks set to benefit from wienerberger’s pioneering service, providing a win for both the industry as a whole and the tenants who rely on these properties to live in peace and comfort.
